Overview. The original tube-and-fin condenser was designed for R-12 and struggles to condense R-134a. A parallel-flow condenser, used on nearly all modern cars, has the internal structure R-134a needs. Upgrading the condenser is the single biggest step toward R-12-like cooling on R-134a.
