Overview. Many classic Mercedes from the late 1960s until around 1980 used 50mm VDO vacuum actuators for the door locks, trunk, fuel flap, HVAC flaps and some heater valves. The original rubber diaphragms harden and crack with age, causing vacuum leaks and sticking flaps. Our lifetime-grade fluorosilicone diaphragms restore them and will outlast natural rubber by decades.
Features
- Lifetime-grade fluorosilicone elastomer, far longer-lasting than natural rubber
- Precision-machined aluminum core
- Works with both clip-on and thread-on linkage types
- Made by Klima Design Works
Fitment
- 50mm VDO vacuum actuators in Mercedes R107, W108 / W109, W114, W115, W116, w123, & others
- Door lock, trunk, fuel flap and HVAC flap actuators, and some heater valve actuators
- Actuator not listed below? This part may still fit. Contact us to check compatibility.
- Diaphragms are sold individually, so order the number your actuator needs.

What’s included
- • 1 × 50mm fluorosilicone diaphragm
- • Actuators not included
Installation
Rebuild tips:
- Old actuator plastic can be brittle: open housings with four thin plastic strips cut from an old credit card (see video)
- Clean dust and debris from the housing. To lubricate the assembly during the rebuild, use only a small amount of dimethicone (found in Lemon Pledge); other lubricants are not recommended
- Stretch the diaphragm rim by hand just before closing the housing
- Test with a hand vacuum pump (e.g. Mityvac)
